Playground at Chumash Park, Pismo Beach, California
Located just off the One-O-One, Chumash Park in Pismo Beach offers a nice afternoon. The park has two main play zones with modern playground  equipment joined by swings and a sand filled space. Both areas are covered with rubbery cushioning on the ground. Picnic tables, benches, and nice grassy lawn surround the playground. My daughter, Dottie, met some nice kids and had a great time. Along the treed edge of the playground, signs cautioning there is Poison Oak keeps visitors out of the lush greenery that blankets the park. The signs appeared to be working well and I saw bunnies frolicking in the undisturbed woods.
We had a delightful nature walk up the gravel trail that runs along the northern edge of Chumash Park. We spotted several little lizards zip by us across the path and we heard even more of them rustle in the low brush. We enjoyed the beautiful Spring weather and blooming wildflowers everywhere. The park has a large forested area that is not developed and it is a great place to get out in nature.

Natural Sculpture on the Horizon

An abstract sculpture, These Three Trees, Pismo Beach CA
These Three Trees
Walking along Meadow Creek Trail, I saw the skeletons of these three old trees standing in a rolling field of flowering ice plant. A family leaning in together, sharing the view of the ocean they have always known. They evoke feelings of wistfulness for them. Now a silhouette of their former selves, creating an abstract sculpture, changing shape in the eye of the viewer.
